Tollers are mascots for the 2011 Canada Games !

Two absolutely adorable Tollers have been drafted into service for Nova Scotia's hosting of the Canada Games in 2011. Their names are Samule and Angelique (Sammi and Anni for short). They are tres adorable!

Announcing Ajay the graduate

Cue the trumpets! Let the heavens rejoice! I have successfully graduated, my darlings! I do hate to boast but I am rather chuffed and pleased with myself.

I'm no longer an energetic & adorable pup with no social skills or 'tricks' under her cape....I am now on my way to canine stardom...or so my caregivers believe.

To date my achievements include:

-sitting

-going into a down

-going into a 'relax' position (laying on my side)

-lifting my left or right paw

-closing the kitchen cabinets and other door-like things

-spinning and twirling

-praying

-crawling

I feel I've achieved a lot but now, from what I've overheard, I am to be thrust into cold marshes and forced to jump through hoops when I am mature enough. As long as liver treats or peanut butter are waiting, then I shall endeavour to do my best as allows.

My intermediate education begins late October. Thank the gods I get to rest a bit!

9 months....Tempus et Toller fugit

My how time flies in Tollerland!

Have you noticed that time flies exponentially (or some such thing) as though time itself is a Toller launching itself into the blue sky with rocket speed as it chases a tennis ball...my the autumn weather makes me verbose!

A year ago, my parents Tinker and Mensa had not yet been "introduced" and now, here I am bringing joy and hairballs to this world! This world, nay this very day, would be incomplete without me!

Happy 9 months to the Mensa and Tinker Litter and my brothers and sisters whom I have not seen since February.

Would love to know what this article says. I think I’d like Norway…lots of beaches and swimming in crystal clear waters of fjords, and succulent salmon for every meal!

Incredibly touching story, isn’t it? Funny that this is a two year old and dogs are said to be as ‘smart’ as two year olds. So glad there is a happy end.

According to this tawdry bit of journalism (see link above), MOST dogs are as smart as a human two year old. Begging to differ I must say that I’ve met many a human well advanced in years (15 and up) who have failed tragically to master the most basic commands …such as when I look at you, you must pay attention or when I nuzzle your hand with my cold nose, it means I want to play so do drop that blasted laptop and throw me a ball!! Look out for MY article: How smart is your human? Rather it will be a tome worthy of the Smithsonian. Let’s put these would be dog experts in their place!

Darlings, I just spent the most marvelous afternoon getting all wet and adoooooring it. We visited a long stretch of beach at Ipperwash in Ontario.

We had gone the day before but the waves then were rough and were churning up black sludge which some credit to a decaying woodmill somewhere in the area. But on Sunday the winds died down, the clouds vanished, and the sun beamed beneficently upon on bipeds and quadropeds everywhere.

My Aunt Pauline "forgot" to put my leash on and I dashed to the water singing to the waves with unbounded joy. The water was clear and warm and suprisingly shallow.

I can't remember the number of retrieves I achieved all I know is that I did not want this blessed afternoon to end...which it did due to an obnoxious family showing up with their little yapster who would not stop barking at me. Jealous little mongrel: don't hate me because I'm beautiful, sporty, and smart!

Happy Canada Day

Today is July 1st my Darlings...and cause for celebration as it is Canada Day.


I am particularly proud as I represent one of only FOUR Canadian breeds (extant breeds, that is- a few others have gone the way of the Dodo bird).

My caregivers are rather biased but they find Tollers to be the handsomest, most intelligent of the four but we can't blame their enthusiasm, can we Darlings?

Well Darlings, the weather here is frightful. I cannot abide by weather that makes me pant and froth at the mouth in the most uncomely of manners. So far, my birthday weekend has been rather uneventful. But I have been promised a swim tomorrow in Lake Erie if no thunderstorms are on the horizon.

I must say that I am rather touched by a litte montage my caregivers have created of me. I do think they are rather besotted with me.

Almost 6 months

Darlings!

Can you believe it my Loves....I'm almost six months old!

Celebrations begin tomorrow and will last (I am led to believe) all weekend long!

I feel this is proper moment to begin my six month retrospective. My daddies have been keeping me so busy they have neglected to share my achievements with the world. Well, time to resolve that. Let's begin....

Here is me at the tender age of 8.5 weeks having just learned to sit.

Here we are darlings, one small step for a precocious Toller princess. Frankly, I could descend the Eiffel Tower at that age. But I am keeping all of my innate tricks in store. I love the look of surprise and adulation when I show my caregivers how smart I am. I have a whole lifetime of tricks to show (and teach) them!

A 10 weeks old, I showed them I could do this....you'll notice that I do well despite the confusing clicker timing.

Hello Darlings!

My spirits continue to soar- or should I say 'sore'- despite this relentless teething.

I found a tooth yesterday and all I got from the tooth fairy was ...nothing!

I should put that on a t-shirt and wear it. Sadly, my caregivers refuse to 'humanize' me and there will be no puppy shoes, blinged-out collars, or quirky t-shirts with pithy four-pawed proverbs.

Sigh. I hope they don't expect me to retrieve nasty dead ducks filled with gunshot ! They're not even hunters but I fear I may find myself thrust into a chilly marsh before long.

Well, let's think positive.

Here is another one of my beloved photos. Here I am at 10 weeks. This was no pose. I simply looked up when asked and 'click' my inimitable cuteness was digitized.

I know you must be desperate for some photographic portraiture featuring moi. Below you'll find some of the myriad photographs taken by my caregivers Anthony and Joe. These date from March 2009 when I was just 9 weeks old. What a darling face, if I do say so myself :)

A Toller Princess is born

Picture it, Darlings: 6 Toller newborns freshly sprouted from mother's womb as planned.

All appear healthy, mother grateful the long hours of labour have come to an end. But then, contractions begin again. Mother seems exhausted and confused.
